Is the IZIBIL card withdrawal a card fraud scam?

Have you noticed a bank direct debit from IZIBIL? First point, this means that your bank card has been registered on an online site. By whom, why? This is what we will try to identify:

Unless your bank card has disappeared and a stranger has used it to register on a website, there is a good chance that you are at the origin of this subscription to IZIBIL . Quite often, people who enter their bank details as part of trial offers or simply to prove their majority or identity are unaware that they are in fact signing up for a monthly or bi-monthly subscription.

In this sense, the direct debit cannot be considered a scam because it is not strictly speaking a bank card hacking.

Here are some examples that can lead to surprising and unexpected speeds: a trial offer on a clairvoyance site (for example '30 minutes for 1 euro '), a small subscription for a dating site or even a video site and other content for adults which required proof of majority by entering their bank card numbers… All these examples have the same consequence: that of subscribing to an online service billed regularly until you request its termination…

Where does the IZIBIL card withdrawal come from?

As explained above, this flow is the consequence of a subscription to an online service.

Our diagnosis: According to the feedback from Internet users who have observed this type of flow, it seems that the CB IZIBIL withdrawal is the consequence of a subscription to an adult content site (adult dating or videos for example) or to a clairvoyance site. Don't you remember having taken out a subscription? Maybe it's because you thought you were just entering your bank details for a little trial offer (or even to prove your majority or your identity). Many sites offer 'trade mechanics' in order to sell subscriptions.

Please note: this direct debit is recurring. Remember to take steps to terminate it so as not to be charged in the next few months.

How to stop IZIBIL card withdrawals?

There are two solutions to stop withdrawals from IZIBIL and terminate any subscription taken out against your will:

- 'I want to manage on my own': the solution (free)

  1. Identify the site at the origin of these withdrawals: on which site did you enter your bank card details?
  2. Once you have found the site, connect to it (if you have a current subscription with them, you have created an account in the past)
  3. Once logged in, you will usually find the unsubscribe procedure in the site settings

- 'I prefer to let a pro handle the problem': go through a service provider such as Sos Internet to help you stop direct debits IZIBIL:

  1. They take care of the identification searches of the company that takes your money
  2. They carry out the termination procedures
  3. They send you a confirmation email once everything is stopped
  4. Can I block my card with my bank to stop the IZIBIL card withdrawals?

If it is a card fraud, that is to say, if the card has been lost and used by a third party, you can declare it lost with your banker. You will also be able to open a fraud file to try to obtain a refund (this point is to be discussed directly with your bank advisor).

If you are still in possession of your card, it is very unlikely that it is a card hack: in this case, you have entered your bank details and have validated the GTC (General Conditions of Sale) which informed you about a possible subscription: blocking the card would therefore mean not honoring a contract for which you have signed up. We therefore do not recommend blocking your credit card.

The legal point : in March 2018, the court of cassation accepted the culpable negligence of a customer who had transmitted his data to a fraudulent site. This is the reason why a banker may refuse to block your card if you are the originator of the subscription.
