Neosurf scam: How does it work? Can we get our money back? The info to know!

neosurf coupon good scam

What is Néosurf? How do Neosurf scams work and how not to get fooled? Is it possible to get your money back if you are the victim of a scam via Neosurf coupons? All the answers in this article.

A few weeks ago, we published an article on prepaid voucher / coupon / top-up scams and we have received a lot of feedback on this. We have therefore chosen to dedicate an article to each type of scam (Neosurf scams therefore, but also Paysafecard scam, PCS Mastercard scams, Cashlib scams, Tonéo scams or even Transcash scams) in order to give you a little more information on how these frauds work and allow you to discuss your experiences in the comments of these articles. Good reading !

First point to fully understand this article: Néosurf, what is it?

Néosurf is a prepaid payment method. Concretely, these are "refills" (or "vouchers" or "coupons") that you can buy directly in shops such as tobacconists, gas stations or others.

These vouchers contain unique information: a 10-digit code -> Anyone who reads this Neosurf code can withdraw / spend the money, anonymously.

You can spend the money from these top-ups by entering the code on the company's partner sites (it revolves a lot around online gaming sites, online betting, video games, online services ...) or credit a prepaid bank card that you already have (neoreload card type, Net + card, Veritas card, Ecocard, Postecash card, etc.). This method of payment can therefore be practical for people who do not have a bank card, who wish to send money free of charge or who wish to remain anonymous in their purchases.

Originally, it was therefore not a scam but a method of payment. Having said that, this payment method is highly appreciated by scammers since untraceable.

I will develop below some examples of good Neosurf scams that we often find, but you will see it, the purpose is always the same: the scammer will try to make you buy coupons, to recover the unique code that is on these coupons to steal your money. End of the story. And since he can recover this money anonymously, it will of course be impossible to find it. (And because you will have bought these coupons of your own free will, it will be difficult - if not impossible - to recover the lost sum).

The scam within the scam: beware of those who want to help you following a Neosurf scam

So there is the pompom. Not only have you been ripped off (or have failed if you have noticed the vein early enough ...) but in addition, some people pretend to be a Neosurf assistance service. Why ? Because by making you believe that they will help you, they will ask you for the famous 10-digit codes…. will cash them and disappear. Magic, a scam in the scam. We will not detail more but where you illustrate this case with two eloquent opinions posted on the Trustpilot site (seriously? What serious company would offer an address that ends in " gmail. com "? Any !)

What to do with your Neosurf tickets if you haven't given the codes?

This is a question that comes up often: " How to get reimbursed for Neosurf top-ups ? ". Some Internet users bought Neosurf coupons from a tobacconist and sensed the scam early enough not to give out the code. But then, they end up with a certain sum ranging from 10 to +1000 euros on coupons… How to recover this money? The Néosurf site offers two alternatives:

  • Convert coupons into Amazon vouchers (however, at the time of writing this article, the link that would allow this operation no longer works)
  • Request reimbursement by bank transfer (with a deduction of 5 euros in fees). Be careful though, we read a lot of comments on the internet from people who never received the refund. We have not personally tested this solution so we recommend that you first find out about the official Neosurf website, or even contact them.

Examples of Neosurf scams

  • Real estate rental announcement
  • Job offer scam
  • Purchases on Le Bon Coin (generally for expensive items, such as cars, computer equipment, etc.), or scams on the Facebook marketplace
  • Email from a loved one who says they are in a problematic situation

The Nintendo Switch scam:

I responded to an ad on Le Bon Coin to buy a switch video console. The seller wanted to go through a Neosurf payment. I went to the tobacco shop to buy 2 Neosurf tickets worth € 200 in total. He sent me a link to authenticate my tickets, supposedly so that I could prove to him that I had the money to buy his console and that I will not try to scam him (lol ... when I get there thought…). I understood too late that this site was not official and that he used this site to retrieve my codes. The money ... gone ...

Why are we being fooled? Because scammers are smart and don't hesitate to send you false documents to prove their good faith and put you in confidence or even turn the situation around so that it's up to you to prove that you are not going to scam them . A few years ago, we spotted scams easily (especially because the ads were often full of spelling mistakes!), Now they are often very well written and ultimately, the only thing that could put the bullet in ear is that, very often, the offer is too good to be true (donation, sale at ridiculous prices…).

We hope this article has helped you. if you wish, do not hesitate to:

  • share this article to promote this type of scam
  • leave a comment if you liked the article or if you want to tell us about your experience

See you soon.

    Hello,
I suffered the same situation; purchase of a Nintendo switch, I bought Neosurf tobacco tickets.
    Luckily I wasn't given the codes;
However, I always have the vouchers with me, by what means can I get my money back?
Because in your article we have no answer regarding the refund

    Response,
    • Paul Zatto

Give the codes to a member of your family and they will recover the amount, it seems to me

      Response,
  3. Lisette

Hello Katy do you still have the vouchers

    Response,
    • Nathalie Corban

Hello Lisette, I also suffered a scam, do you have a solution to get reimbursed?

      Response,
  4. Perez

Hello, I called for a car to sell on the right corner at a price defying all competition and I received a text asking me to connect only by wattsapp because it is a person living in a center for young deaf people and who teaches sign language who sells his car to go to Belgium then she asks me to buy Neosurf at the tobacco store to send her the photos of the tickets hiding the codes. Despite all the photos of the car and the documents I have not felt the trick, I took a look on the net and I understood the scam. I did not follow up.

    Response,
    • Melissa Yann

Hello, I am writing to you because I have exactly the same problem as you, car that I found on market on Facebook, the person happened to be a person in a center and also hard of hearing. But at the end of the day for a while we found that this person was not honest at all because she told us to take my neosurf tickets I got them for 1000 €. Now I'm stuck with his tickets. What to do ? Have you found a solution to be reimbursed. Thank you

      Response,
    • Joseba MARTIN AYALA

She continues, I almost got noticed today!

      Response,
      • Julie

The person continues, I almost got fooled too, when I saw Néosurf I said to myself that it was fishy.

        Response,
        • Cecile

We also almost fell into the trap. Luckily we stopped in time; the scam therefore continues with this supposedly hard-of-hearing person who cannot be contacted directly.

I bought the Neosurf coupons but she wanted me to check the validity on another site, for more news. I don't know how to get the money back.

bjr, I just got ripped off 450 euros for housing a lady who supposedly joined her husband in Poitiers and who had to rent her apartment in Clichy, 45 rue du Landy. Although I did not give my codes, once validated, I emailed him proof of validation with the encrypted codes. despite this, I have just realized that my vouchers have been emptied of their amount.

    Response,

        Hello
I bought a voucher for a supposed adoption of a puppy from an association
        A companion for life
This seller is not clear in his explanations and it smacks of a scam
How to get a refund for the voucher please thank you Regards

        Response,
        • bourgeois

          me too ; but I smelled the scam; the puppy is a golden retriever; and the supposedly visually impaired lady does not want to give me her address; we wanted to pay it in cash; she said she had been assaulted; it is in chanceaux burgundy;

Hello, I have two Neosurf tickets of 30 and 5O euro, I cannot put them on my neosurf account ...
    Somebody knows ?

    Response,
  10. Monique Morgan

By reading your article, I understand that I cannot be refunded!
I still have the 2 tickets of 100 € each but I sent them a photocopy as he asked me. These tickets of 200 € Should be given to a carrier who delivered me a little puppy! Fortunately, my husband did not accept an additional 350 € pay for the rental of an air-conditioned cage for transport!
I believe that it is useless to take steps for the reimbursement!

    Response,

    Hello,
A couple offers me to rent a house with 5 bedrooms at 600 €. Price which is below real estate prices For a 5 bedroom house in Essonne, the rent is between 1500 € - 2000 €. But they explain to me that they are not looking to make money, they want someone who will maintain their house. They demand that I pay them a month's rent in advance and a € 600 deposit in Neosurf coupons. They made an appointment for me on November 26 to visit the house. In addition to the Neosurf coupons, what struck me as strange was that they did not give me an appointment directly at the address where the house is located. But in front of the town hall of their town
In your opinion, doesn't that smell like a scam?

    Hello,
I am asked to pay for an iphone with Neosurf tickets, the person simply asks me to send him the photo of the neosurf tickets, hiding the codes, to confirm the meeting
am I afraid of something if I hide the codes?
    Thank you for your reply
    cordially

    Response,
    • Roger

Hello, I have the same payment request hiding the code, have you continued your transaction?

      Response,
  13. roger

Hello, indeed to buy wood I am offered the same thing by cacahnt the code? it's suspicious anyway that the seller only wants payment in neosurf

    Response,
    • Jack Nomad

I don't know how they do it, but even with the hidden code they manage to know it, maybe with the barcode? In any case, when you make this kind of (too beautiful) transactions never pay with these coupons, ask lots of trick questions, ask for a phone number (which you will never get because you are supposedly hard of hearing) ask for additional photos, etc. You will quickly realize that they are not able to answer you.

      Response,
      • brossard

I did like you for wood. He asked me to send him the codes hiding the NEOSURF code; but I hid the code in the middle, the name and address of the tobacco shop and the 2nd code (which is the same as the 1st lowest). He replied: “??? » and I still have the NEOSURF coupons and I don't know what to do with them?
Should I file a complaint with the police? Even with Amazon he does not take them.

        Response,

    Hi,
I received this kind of email which made me believe that it came from a relative and told me that he had just been diagnosed with a serious illness but that I should not tell anyone about it, that he had a favor to ask me. I answered it because I did not immediately realize that it was a scam. The following email tells me about this Neosurf card and refills, asking me to go buy some, then send the code that appears there. The e-mail seemed to me suspicious coming from the relative in question. So I did an internet search and found your article. Thank you this saved me from falling into this trap.

    Response,
  16. archibal

great help! and who arrives on the wire. I actually found the seller a little too pressing for my taste to have my codes.
on the other hand, the hell, now, it is to be made refund. impossible (unless you are a fan of online games, bets and other casinos – not my cam).
result, it cost me, but did not bring in a crook, denounced elsewhere at google and the cyber protection organization of my country.
