WIKIVEO took my money from me. Why and how to cancel this charge?

4 questions / answers to understand
this bank charge

Is the WIKIVEO card withdrawal a card fraud type scam?

You notice a debit that responds to the name of WIKIVEO: this means that your bank card has been entered on a website and that you are (perhaps, without knowing it) subscribed to a service offered by the site.

What site could this be? Here are a few examples: a trial offer on a site (clairvoyance or meetings, etc.), a contest to win a smartphone at 1 euro (or any other attractive object: a tablet, cinema tickets, etc.), or even a site on which you found yourself following a newsletter announcing a gain (trip, weekend ...) or a super reduction ...

Unless your bank card has disappeared (lost or stolen) and an evil person has used it to register on a website of this type, there is a good chance that you are at the origin of this subscription to WIKIVEO.

In this sense, we cannot consider it to be card fraud in the sense that it is not bank card hacking.

What is the origin of the WIKIVEO direct debit?

As detailed above, this card debit follows an internet subscription.

Our diagnosis: It seems that the CB WIKIVEO withdrawal is the consequence of a subscription. You don't remember having taken out a subscription for an online service? Perhaps you did not directly enter your bank details for a subscription but rather as part of a competition such as' you won a smartphone for 1 euro 'or' receive a tablet by simply paying the fees Delivery'. This kind of commercial mechanic is very common and aims to collect your banking information to subscribe to a service and withdraw money from you each month.

Namely: this direct debit is recurring. You must complete cancellation procedures to no longer be charged for the next few months.

How to stop WIKIVEO card withdrawals?

If it is a card fraud, that is to say, if the card has been lost and used by a third party, you can declare it lost with your banker. You will also be able to open a fraud file to try to obtain a refund (this point is to be discussed directly with your bank advisor).

If you are still in possession of your card, it is very unlikely that it is a card hack: in this case, you have entered your bank details and have validated the GTC (General Conditions of Sale) which informed you about a possible subscription: blocking the card would therefore mean not honoring a contract for which you have signed up. We therefore do not recommend blocking your credit card. The legal point : in March 2018, the court of cassation accepted the culpable negligence of a customer who had transmitted his data to a fraudulent site. This is the reason why a banker may refuse to block your card if you are the originator of the subscription.

I am 75 years old and I will have a file to fill out in order to hope for a possible reimbursement. This operation of wikivéo.com for my part I consider it fraudulent and ABUSIVE.

I subscribed to a QR app from wikiveo360.com that didn't work, but they took £3 to register the app and three days later £24.99!

I'm trying for a credit card to charge back on the advice of my bank.

Thank you for your feedback. I found Lidl's offer very interesting. I naively gave my CC number. And I just objected. Thanks to all of you… .🤨
