YAVERIF took my money from me. Why and how to cancel this charge?

this bank charge

Is the YAVERIF bank charge a card fraud scam?

If you notice a debit from YAVERIF, it means that your bank card has been entered on a website. Why, how, not who? This is what we will see:

Here are some examples of offers and sites on which you could have entered your bank details: a trial offer on a clairvoyance site (for example '30 minutes for 1 euro '), a small subscription for a dating site or another adult content site that required proof of age by entering bank card numbers… All these examples have the same goal and the same consequence: that of automatically subscribing to an online service billed every month.

Unless your bank card has disappeared and another person has used it to register on a website, there is a good chance that you are at the origin of this subscription to YAVERIF. Perhaps you did not understand that entering your bank details could lead to a subscription? (this is quite possible and unfortunately very common.)

In summary, we cannot consider this to be a scam in the sense that it is not a bank card hacking.

Where does the YAVERIF card withdrawal come from?

As detailed above, this card debit follows an internet subscription.

Our diagnosis: It seems that the CB YAVERIF withdrawal is the consequence of a subscription to a clairvoyance site or adult content (meetings or adult videos for example). Don't you remember having purchased a subscription? Maybe it's because you thought you were just entering your credit card details for a little trial offer (or even to prove your majority or your identity). Many sites offer small offers of 1 or 2 euros in order to sell subscriptions.

Namely: this direct debit is recurring. You must complete cancellation procedures to no longer be charged for the next few months.

How to stop YAVERIF card withdrawals?

There are two solutions to stop withdrawals from YAVERIF and terminate any subscription taken out against your will:

- 'I want to manage on my own': the solution (free)

  1. Identify the site at the origin of these withdrawals: on which site did you enter your bank card details?
  2. Once you have found the site, connect to it (if you have a current subscription with them, you have created an account in the past)
  3. Once logged in, you will usually find the unsubscribe procedure in the site settings

- 'I prefer to let a pro handle the problem': go through a service provider such as Sos Internet to help you stop direct debits YAVERIF:

  1. They take care of the identification searches of the company that takes your money
  2. They carry out the termination procedures
  3. They send you a confirmation email once everything is stopped
  4. Can I block my card with my bank to stop the YAVERIF card withdrawals?

If it is a card fraud, that is to say, if the card has been lost and used by a third party, you can declare it lost with your banker. You will also be able to open a fraud file to try to obtain a refund (this point is to be discussed directly with your bank advisor).

If you are still in possession of your card, it is very unlikely that it is a card hack: in this case, you have entered your bank details and have validated the GTC (General Conditions of Sale) which informed you about a possible subscription: blocking the card would therefore mean not honoring a contract for which you have signed up. We therefore do not recommend blocking your credit card.

The legal point : in March 2018, the court of cassation accepted the culpable negligence of a customer who had transmitted his data to a fraudulent site. This is the reason why a banker may refuse to block your card if you are the originator of the subscription.
